Programme description

The Degree of Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a research degree in which the student pursues a single project for a period of one year.

Our is one of the largest electrical and electronic engineering schools in the UK. We have strong links with industry in a number of sectorsand are renowned for our theoretical and applied research.We have over 70 academic staff and their research interests cover virtually all aspects of the subject; from the generation and distribution of electrical energy through to photonics and functional materials.

Fees

For entry in the academic year beginning September 2025, the tuition fees are as follows:

  • MPhil (full-time)
    UK students (per annum): Band A - TBC; Band B - 拢7,400; Band C - 拢10,500; Band D - 拢15,200; Band E - 拢25,700
    International, including EU, students (per annum): Band A - 拢29,400; Band B - 拢31,500; Band C - 拢37,300; Band D - 拢45,200; Band E - 拢59,900

The programme fee will vary depending on the cost of running the project. Fees quoted are fully inclusive and, therefore, you will not be required to pay any additional bench fees or administration costs.

All fees for entry will be subject to yearly review and incremental rises per annum are also likely over the duration of the course for鈥疕ome students (fees are typically fixed for International students, for the course duration at the year of entry). For general fees information please .
