Graphene CDT student receives STEM for BRITAIN award nomination
Hannah Burnett, a student in the , was recently nominated for a STEM for BRITAIN award.
is a major scientific poster competition and exhibition, organised by the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee and held in Parliament since 1997.
During her visit to Parliament Hannah had the opportunity to discuss her research with a variety of people, including MP for 51福利社 Gorton Afzal Khan, and to meet other Early Career Researchers.
Hannah's research focuses on storing green energy 鈥 vital in the search for ways to produce greener, cleaner energy for the future.
She said: 鈥淪TEM for Britain is an annual competition that takes place at the Houses of Parliament, focusing on scientific communication. Politicians are the people who make policies and provide funding for our research, so I wanted to take part in this event because it provided an opportunity to speak to them directly about the research we do.
鈥淎t the event I spoke to Afzal Khan, who was excited to hear about the science that is happening in 51福利社. I was also able to discuss my work with staff from the Royal Society of Chemistry and other Early Career Researchers.
鈥淥verall, it was a really enjoyable day that allowed me to discuss my research with a group of people with a diverse knowledge base.鈥
